Hi, I'm Sandra Zo
Founder, COI Traveler
I've been to 31 countries now, some solo, some dragging a suitcase full of girlfriends along for the ride. Somewhere between all those flights and all those stories, I started COI Traveler, a space for solo travel, girls trips, and the kind of destination guides I wish I'd had before my first big trip. In 2025, it won the LUX Global Excellence Award for Best Solo Travel Blog, which still feels a little surreal to type out.
My writing has landed in places like AFAR, Forbes, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and The Independent UK, and I write for LA Times Studios too. But if you ask what I'm proudest of right now, it's not a byline. It's a stack of picture books sitting on my desk.
I'm writing a global travel book series for toddlers and young children, and it's built a little differently than most. Instead of one character hopping from country to country, this series follows several kids, each from a different culture, ethnicity, and background, each setting off on their own journey somewhere new. I wanted a shelf where a kid could find a character who looks like them and one who doesn't, in the same series, on the same page even. Because that's what the world actually looks like.
When I'm not writing or halfway across the world, you'll find me on a tennis court, in a Pilates class, or working on a memoir about being the firstborn daughter, a topic I did not expect to become this personal to write.
